A simple, comforting turmeric trick recipe made with turmeric root or powder, black pepper, honey, and lemon juice. Warm, golden, and packed with anti-inflammatory goodness, it’s an easy daily wellness shot to start your day.

Ingredients

Scale

15 to 20 grams fresh organic turmeric root (or 2 tsp organic ground turmeric)

1/4 cup water

6 tbsp hot water (1 1/2 tbsp per shot)

1/2 tsp whole black peppercorns (or crushed)

4 tsp honey (or adjust to taste)

1/4 cup lemon juice (or 4 tsp lime juice or orange juice)

1/2 to 1 tsp cold-pressed avocado oil (or coconut oil or ghee)

Instructions

  1. Scrub and peel the fresh turmeric root. Slice it thinly.
  2. (Optional) Simmer turmeric slices in 1/2 cup water for 5–7 minutes. Cool.
  3. Add turmeric and 1/4 cup water to blender with black pepper. Blend till smooth.
  4. Strain through fine mesh or cheesecloth to extract juice.
  5. Pour 1.5 tbsp hot water into each shot glass.
  6. Add 2 tbsp turmeric liquid to each. Stir well.
  7. Add honey, lemon juice, and a few drops of oil if desired. Mix and sip warm.

Notes

  • Don’t drink this on an empty stomach.
  • Use organic turmeric only — fresh or ground.
  • Avoid cold versions; warm shots help digestion.
  • Ground turmeric version: Stir 1/2 tsp turmeric + 1/8 tsp pepper + 1 tsp honey into warm water.
  • Add-ins: ginger, orange juice, or ghee as you like.
