If you want to make your pizza better at home, this Ooni pizza dough recipe is what you need! It works well with an outdoor Ooni pizza oven or a regular home oven. This recipe gives you a chewy crust and helps you bake the perfect pizza.

Ingredients

Scale

300g Bread Flour (approx. 2 1/2 cups)

210g Warm Water (approx. 3/4 cup + 1 tbsp) – between 105°F and 110°F

7g Active Dry Yeast (approx. 2 1/4 tsp)

6g Salt (approx. 1 tsp)

1 tbsp Olive Oil

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

Add salt and olive oil to the yeast mixture.

Gradually add bread flour, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.

Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes (by hand or with a stand mixer) until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Gently punch down the dough and divide into 2-3 portions, depending on your desired pizza size.

Shape each portion into a ball and let rest for 15-20 minutes.

Stretch or roll out the dough to your desired thickness.

Top with your favorite ingredients and bake in a preheated Ooni oven (900°F) for 60-90 seconds, or in a preheated home oven (500°F) with a pizza stone for 12-15 minutes.

Notes

Using a kitchen scale for accurate measurements is highly recommended, especially for hydration.

If the dough is too sticky, add a tablespoon of flour at a time while kneading.

For a crispier crust, preheat your pizza stone or baking steel for at least 30 minutes.

Leftover dough can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Feel free to experiment with different flours, such as 00 flour for a more authentic Neapolitan-style crust.

Don't be afraid to get creative with your toppings!
